The St. Louis Public Affairs Network hosts monthly events in the areas of public affairs, government relations, policy and communications. The Network is comprised of stakeholders, government affairs and public policy professionals representing major companies from the entire 15-county, bi-state region.
Hon. Jimmie Edwards
Director, Department of Public Safety
The Honorable Jimmie Edwards was recently appointed by St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson as the city’s public safety director. Edwards’ department oversees more than 3,500 employees and has an operating budget of $340 million. The Public Safety Department is the largest city department and includes the police and fire departments. Edwards rose through private and public legal positions to the legal staff of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1990. From there he was appointed to the St. Louis Circuit Court. He was an Administrative Judge of the Family Court and Chief Juvenile Court Judge from 2007 to 2012.
Sheriff Rick Watson of the St. Clair County Police Department believes that the protection of life and property is our highest priority. His department’s mission is to protect and respect the rights and dignity of all persons with courtesy and compassion. Sheriff Watson has an extensive background in law enforcement stemming from the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA, Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis Executive Board Member to implementing the Business/Residence and well-being checks for St. Clair County Community and redirecting community patrols and implemented pro-active patrol card program.
