Our Speakers

Joe Adorjan, Chairman, Adven Capital Partners

Mr. J. Joe Adorjan is chairman of Adven Capital Partners LLC and F.W. Corporation. Previously he served as a partner of Stonington Partners, a private equity firm. From 1995-2000, he served as chairman and chief executive officer of Borg-Warner Security Corporation, a provider of global security services with revenues of $1.3 billion.

Prior to joining Borg-Warner Security Corporation, he was president of Emerson Electric Company, where he was responsible for the successful integration of the Fisher Controls Company into Emerson’s existing process control companies, creating Fisher-Rosemont, the world’s leader in process control and instrumentation.

He served as chairman and chief executive officer of ESCO Electronics Corporation from 1990 to 1992. ESCO Electronics was formed as an independent NYSE corporation in 1990 through the spin-off of Emerson’s government and defense business.

From 1968 to 1990, he held a variety of management and executive positions with Emerson Electric Company. In 1978 he was appointed senior vice president of Corporate Development, responsible for Emerson’s planning, acquisition, and technology development activities. He was promoted to executive vice president in 1983, responsible for Emerson’s finance, international, planning, acquisition, and technology functions. In 1988, he was appointed vice chairman of the company.

He has served on a broad variety of both private and public companies and has been actively engaged in both business and civic affairs. He received a B.S. degree in 1963 and a M.S.C. degree in 1967 from Saint Louis University.

John Dubinsky, President & CEO, Westmoreland Associates LLC

John Dubinsky has spent his entire career working in the financial services industry and participating with large-scale not-for-profits.  He was formerly CEO of Mark Twain Bank (NYSE) and the $30 billion Mercantile Bank (now part of U. S. Bancorp).  He is  Chairman of the $17 billion Stifel Bank and Trust which is part of Stifel Financial, a national investment banking and wealth management firm; a Director of Drury Hotels, and does advisory financial and governance consulting for clients in the healthcare, higher education and commercial banking industries.  He and Charles Knight together formed the BJH Healthcare System, he has served on the Board of National Public Radio Foundation, is currently a Board Member and former Chairman of the Board of the St. Louis Public Library, and is an Emeritus Member of the Board of Washington University in St. Louis and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He has worked with many companies and organizations as a consultant and an Executive Coach.


Pat Mohrman, Partner, Solutions M2

Pat Mohrman is currently a partner in Solutions M2, a leadership consulting firm in Arizona, where she has had the opportunity to work with diverse companies, including some Fortune 500 firms, both profit and non-profit. She has served in executive healthcare roles, most recently as former President of Barnes Jewish West County Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to that time she had the privilege of serving Barnes Jewish Hospital, and BJC Health Care in healthcare leadership roles, developing from her passion for patient care.

She has a Masters from St. Louis University in Administration and Nursing.

Pat is active in her community serving as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer for 19 years with Voices for Children, and St. Louis CASA. Additionally she is Coordinator and Co-founder of the St. Louis Chapter of Ryan’s Case for Smiles, a national organization offering education for families with PTSD by introducing literature through a colorful pillowcase to critically ill children in area hospitals. At this time over 60,000 cases have been made by volunteers and distributed. She has also served on their national board.

In her spare time, Pat is an avid fly fisherman, sewer, and traveler.


Dr. Chris Sloan, Executive Vice President Consulting Services, Psychological Associates

Dr. Christopher Sloan is an organizational psychologist with over 25 years of experience helping clients select and develop leaders who can execute business strategy and propel their organizations into the future. With expertise in executive assessment; high-potential identification and development; succession planning; and executive coaching, Chris brings both technical expertise and a practical business perspective to each engagement. His base of consulting experience spans multiple industries, as well as organizations in the non-profit sector.

Prior to joining Psychological Associates, Chris led Sloan Consulting Group, where he partnered with clients to address leadership bench strength through assessment and development initiatives. Earlier in his career, he played a senior role with a global human resources consultancy, where he served as a member of the firm’s leadership development practice and co-led a regional consulting team. Prior to that, Chris oversaw the development and application of talent assessment tools within the insurance and financial services industries.

Chris earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Georgia. He is a licensed psychologist and a member of the Division of Industrial/Organizational Psychology of the American Psychological Association.www.business-alchemist.com
